PlexR Eyelid Treatment in Malta

PlexR is a non-surgical plasma treatment used for selected patients with mild to moderate eyelid skin laxity. It creates controlled surface points that contract the treated skin and trigger a healing response without a surgical incision or sutures.

How PlexR works

A non-surgical treatment still creates a real healing response.

PlexR uses plasma energy at the skin surface. The treatment is designed for selected skin-laxity concerns; it should not be described as a substitute for every Blepharoplasty.

Mechanism

Controlled plasma points

The device creates small controlled surface points. The treated skin contracts and then heals, with collagen remodelling continuing after the visible crusts have resolved.

Best suited to

Mild to moderate laxity

The live page positions PlexR for selected mild to moderate eyelid skin laxity, fine lines or drooping where the patient wishes to avoid surgery.

Not the same as surgery

No tissue excision

PlexR does not surgically remove large amounts of excess skin or reposition deeper fat. Substantial tissue excess may still require Blepharoplasty assessment.

Assessment & planning

Suitability depends on how much tissue excess is actually present.

The consultation looks at eyelid skin quality, degree of laxity, lower-eye bags, asymmetry, pigmentation risk and whether the expected improvement is realistic without surgery.

Who may be suitable

Selected patients with mild to moderate upper- or lower-eyelid skin laxity who want to avoid surgery may be considered. The degree of excess skin is important because larger folds of tissue cannot be removed by plasma treatment.

What happens during treatment

A topical anaesthetic may be applied for comfort. Plasma energy is then delivered in a pattern of controlled surface points across the treatment zone.

Pigmentation and sun protection

Because the skin surface is deliberately treated, post-inflammatory pigmentation is a relevant consideration. The live aftercare advises high-SPF sun protection and avoiding makeup until the crusts have healed.

When surgery may be more appropriate

If there is substantial skin excess, significant lower-eye fat prominence, marked asymmetry or a functional upper-eyelid issue, Blepharoplasty may provide a more appropriate route.

Procedure & recovery

The first week is the most visible part of recovery.

The current PlexR guidance describes small carbon crusts forming at the treatment points, with swelling commonly occurring for a few days.

Treatment day

Topical anaesthetic may be used. Plasma points are applied to the selected eyelid area.

Days 1–3

Mild swelling may occur. The small treatment points darken into visible crusts.

Days 5–7

The live guidance says the crusts typically fall away naturally during this period. They should not be picked.

Following weeks

The skin continues to settle after the crusts are gone. Improvement can continue as the healing response develops.

Further treatment

The live page states that 1–3 sessions may be recommended depending on the skin condition and desired result.

Results & limitations

The result develops after the surface has healed.

The live page describes progressive tightening after treatment, with final appearance becoming clearer over subsequent weeks. Individual response varies and maintenance may be discussed.

Immediate phase

The skin may look tighter early, but crusting and swelling mean the cosmetic result should not be judged immediately.

After healing

The treated area can look smoother and firmer once crusts separate and swelling settles.

Limitations

PlexR cannot reproduce the degree of tissue removal possible with surgery when significant excess skin or fat is present.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about PlexR.

These answers are general guidance. Your consultation is where we assess your anatomy, medical history, expectations and the procedure-specific risks that matter in your case.

01 Who is a good candidate for PlexR?

The live page positions PlexR for selected patients with mild to moderate eyelid skin laxity, fine lines or drooping who wish to avoid surgery.

02 Does PlexR hurt?

Topical anaesthetic may be used for comfort. Sensation varies between patients.

03 What should I expect after treatment?

Small brown crusts form at the treatment points and commonly fall away over about 5–7 days. Mild swelling can occur for 2–3 days.

04 How many sessions might I need?

The current page describes 1–3 sessions depending on the skin condition and the desired outcome.

05 Can I wear makeup straight away?

The live aftercare advises avoiding makeup until the crusts have fully healed.

06 Is PlexR the same as Blepharoplasty?

No. PlexR is a non-surgical plasma treatment; Blepharoplasty is surgery that can remove or reposition excess tissue.
