What we assess
We assess the growth’s size, stalk, location, symptoms and appearance before recommending removal.
Removal of selected skin tags at St Mary’s Medical Clinic in Mosta. Skin tags are usually small, soft benign growths and commonly appear in areas of friction such as the neck, underarms, eyelids or groin.

Skin tags are typically soft, flesh-coloured growths attached to the skin. People often seek removal because a tag catches on clothing or jewellery, becomes irritated, or is cosmetically bothersome.
Skin-tag removal is planned according to the growth’s size, stalk, location and clinical appearance.

We assess the growth’s size, stalk, location, symptoms and appearance before recommending removal.
The treatment is selected for the actual lesion rather than applying the same removal method to every lump or skin growth.
Not every small raised lesion is a skin tag. We assess the growth and its location before removal, particularly when it looks unusual, has changed or repeatedly bleeds.
When it appeared, whether it has changed and any previous treatment.
Size, location, surface features and how the lesion or lump behaves.
Pain, irritation, bleeding, inflammation, drainage or repeated trauma where relevant.
Whether removal here is appropriate, which method is suitable and whether further testing is relevant.
Removal approaches may include cryotherapy, laser or radiofrequency, and snip excision. The method used depends on the tag’s size, stalk, location and clinical appearance.
Confirm what is being treated and whether removal is appropriate.
Choose the technique according to the lesion, site, size and clinical findings.
The procedure is performed using the agreed approach, with local anaesthetic when appropriate.
Receive wound-care and follow-up instructions specific to the procedure performed.
After removal there may be temporary tenderness, redness or a small scab. Healing depends on the method and location. We give wound-care instructions based on the treatment performed.
Contact us if you develop concerns after treatment such as worsening pain, spreading redness, significant swelling, persistent bleeding or other symptoms you were not expecting.
Removal is €80 for a small skin tag and €140 for a large skin tag.
